Detox is a word that has been marketed heavily over the past several years. Products have flooded the market, making phony claims accompanied by potentially dangerous side effects from supplements and powders loaded with all sorts of unnecessary ingredients.
Each one advertises your need for their magical concoction to flush out toxins, lose weight, and feel great! There are even detox diets aimed at flushing out particular body parts or for the whole body by ingesting a specific set of foods, supplements, and exercise.
Detoxification has become one of the most confusing topics out there. With so many different opinions on what you should be doing, how you should be doing it, or if you should be doing it at all.
In Japanese culture, however, detoxing has remained somewhat irrelevant except for in areas that have become more influenced by the westernized diet.
This is because of their organized lifestyles, stress-free mindset, and focus on consuming wholesome, nutritious food. They don't blindly eat just to feel full, so they basically have no need to detox.
Of course, they also include a regular intake of green tea throughout the day. Green tea has the unique capability to encourage your body's natural detoxification process rather than by using force like so many other products.
Your body is equipped with its very own detoxification system that allows for the filtration and removal of harmful substances. There is no need to try and overhaul it even with the extra intake of chemically processed foods and exposure to environmental pollutants.
Trying to harshly washout this natural system and then continuing to contaminate it with low quality food choices will not make you look, feel, or function any better.
In fact, you may be doing more harm than good by interfering with your body's natural process to recognize contaminants and learn how to eliminate them on its own.
This is not a network you want to have become lazy by your constant interference, it needs to be able to adapt and evolve.
Instead, it is a much smarter approach to strengthen this system by making choices that help to support it rather than hurt it.
Taking a cue from the Japanese, one of the most natural things to do is to make sure you are drinking regular amounts of good quality green tea every day.
I find a rotation between matcha and sencha green tea throughout the day is the perfect combination for helping to eliminate anything harmful from my body.
Green tea contains high levels of chlorophyll, which is a naturally occurring element most prominent in matcha that enhances your body's detoxification system. It gently stimulates digestion and helps assist in the removal of any substances that have been identified as harmful.
Think of green tea as your buddy system for extracting containments! It will leave you feeling clean, healthy, and energized.
Cheers to detoxing naturally!
