Curious about the trendiest beverage of 2017?

No need to look elsewhere!

It’s Nature's Blueprint Ceremonial Matcha, and the health benefits are beyond astounding!

Exploited by top nutritionists, health experts, popular health-conscious celebrities and models, because matcha is not your typical green tea. Ceremonial or high-grade is a finely ground, concentrated green tea powder has been traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremonies for hundreds of years.

Our Ceremonial Matcha is grown and harvested in Uji, Koyoto Japan, which is known for creating some of the best varieties of matcha green teas in the world.

Best known as a fat-burner and cancer-fighter, matcha puts other teas to shame.

Countless studies have shown that naturally occurring chemical compounds in matcha are anti-carcinogenic by inducing cancer cell death and inhibiting cancer cell growth.

Matcha is also highly rich in antioxidants, has free radical activity and encourages your body’s natural detoxification systems.

We all know that green tea has some pretty great benefits, but when you consume matcha, you get all of green tea’s benefits in a super concentrated form amplifying all of the health benefits!

The secret behind matcha’s strength is found in its polyphenol compounds called catechins, a type of antioxidant. Prized for being more catechin-dense than any other tea, green tea provides unbelievable health benefits for people who drink it regularly. This is especially true when it comes matcha, an ultra-concentrated powdered form of green tea.

Popular Health Benefits of Matcha

1. Helps Fight Cancer

Research shows that green tea consumption can reduce the risk of cancer. Some of the specific cancers where risk reduction has been scientifically demonstrated include:

  • Bladder cancer: A study of 800+ women showed the risk of urinary bladder cancer was significantly reduced in women who drank matcha regularly.
  • Breast cancer: Meta-analysis of multiple observational studies discovered that women who drank the most green tea had a 22%lower risk of developing breast cancer.
  • Colon and rectal cancers: A study of 69,710 Chinese women from ages 40 to 70 years old, found that green tea drinkers had a 57% lower risk of colorectal cancer.
  • Prostate cancer: 1 study found that Japanese men who drank five or more cups of green tea per day had a 48% lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the catechins in matcha green tea (EGCG, EGC, ECG and EC) are so powerful that they may actually help prevent cancer, potentially making matcha one of the top natural cancer treatment options out there.

The NCI provides the following explanation:

  1. The chemicals in green tea, especially EGCG and ECG, have substantial free radical-scavenging capability.
  2. Tea polyphenols have been shown to inhibit tumor cell development and induce apoptosis (cancer cell destruction) in laboratory and animal studies.
  3. The catechins in green tea activate detoxification enzymes praised for preventing tumor growth.
  4. The catechins in green tea not only protect against damage caused by ultraviolet B radiation, but also they can improve immune system function.

That's pretty amazing if you ask me. But beleive it or not, matcha actually does a lot more than prevent cancer.

2. Promotes Weight Loss

When it comes to boosting your metabolism and getting help with weight loss, science shows that there are few things more beneficial than matcha green tea.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition conducted a study related to catechins found in tea.

The researchers gave one group the 690 mg. of tea and the other group the 22 mg. of tea. After 12 weeks, they observed that body fat mass, BMI, body weight, subcutaneous fat area and waist circumference were all “significantly lower” in the 690-mg catechin group than in the 22 mg. group. Even more astounding were the modifications in LDL levels due to the dramatic decreases in body fat mass and total fat area.

By these results, researchers confidently concluded that because drinking tea containing 690 mg of catechins for 12 weeks reduced body fat, consuming catechins could aid in the prevention and improvement of obesity.

3. Boosts Exercise Performance

Clinical tests suggest matcha can help speed recovery in athletes whose focus is high-intensity workouts. It’s also been shown to reverse cellular damage caused by oxidative-nitrosative stress, a fancy term for the internal imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants. This imbalance ultimately destroys cells, prevents their repair which in turn causes disease.

4. Fantastic Source of Disease-Fighting Catechins

According to research conducted at Harvard, green tea is the best food source of a group of antioxidants known as catechins. Research has shown catechins to be more powerful than vitamins C and E in stopping oxidative damage to cells. They also appear to have other disease-fighting abilities.

Published in the Journal of Chromatography, were some groundbreaking results. “The concentration of EGCG available from drinking matcha is 137X greater than the amount of EGCG available from Chinese green tea, and at least 3X higher than the largest value for other green teas.”

5. L-Theanine for an Alert Calm Feeling

Matcha drinkers have said they experience a feeling of alert calm. This is due to its mix of L-theanine and caffeine. L-Theanine is a relaxing amino acid found pretty much exclusively in teas from the Camellia sinensis (green tea) plant.

By drinking matcha you can increase your levels of L-theanine and promote alpha waves, which lead to a state of relaxed alertness.

Matcha contains up to five times as much L-theanine as regular green tea.

6. Reduces Risk of Heart Disease and Hypertension

According to another Harvard study,  green tea may lower LDL cholesterol and high triglycerides, which reduce the risk of death from heart disease and stroke.

A study demonstrating 40,530 Japanese who drank more than five cups of green tea a day, had a 26% lower risk of death from heart attack or stroke and a 16% lower risk of death from all causes than people who drank less than one cup of green tea a day.

Another study found that people who drank the largest quantity of green tea had a 28% lower risk of coronary artery disease than those who drank the least green tea.

The antioxidants found in green tea can help block the oxidation of “bad” LDL cholesterol, increase “good” HDL cholesterol and improve artery function.

7. Lowers Risk of Type II Diabetes

A chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar or glucose. Type II diabetes can be reversed with proper lifestyle and diet changes. By adding matcha into your life, you can help to reverse diabetes or prevent it all together.

Another study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition evaluated the effects of green tea and green tea extract on glucose control and insulin sensitivity. Researchers discoverd that green tea consumption decreased fasting glucose and A1c concentrations. Green tea also led to a significant reduction in fasting insulin concentrations.

8. Detoxifies the Body

Matcha’s rich green color is from high concentrations of chlorophyll levels. Chlorophyll is a type of plant pigment responsible for the absorption of light in the process of photosynthesis, which creates energy. Because matcha is carefully shade-grown, it is significantly richer in chlorophyll than other varieties of tea.

Chlorophyll isn't just responsible for matchas lovely shade of green. It’s also a very effective detoxifier that can help in the daily elimination of unwanted toxins, chemicals and heavy metals from your body. Consuming 1 daily cup of matcha is an easy way to incorporate detoxification into your everyday life.

 Making Matcha

Matcha is traditionally made by mixing about a 1/2 - 1 tsp of matcha powder with a 1/3 C. of hot water (heated to less than a boil approx. 175-185 degrees). Then whisked with a bamboo brush until its frothy and smooth.

How is matcha made?

Matcha is a concentrated powdered form of green tea. It’s made from the leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis. All tea comes from this plant, but the difference in color and taste is from the differences in processing.

The tea plants that are specifically grown for matcha are shaded for a few weeks to increase chlorophyll levels prior to being picked. After harvest, the tea leaves are steamed, dried and then ground into the fine powder we know as matcha green tea.

When you drink a traditional bagged green teas, the leaves are steeped into the hot water and then get thrown away. With matcha, you are actually drinking the leaves that have been ground, making it a more potent source of nutrients than steeped green tea.
